Transforming Morning Phone Habits: From Stress to Serenity

Think about your typical morning, within the first 10 minutes of waking what do you do? For so many they reach for their phones. I do too but as I will share at the end of this article, now I use my phone consciously as a tool to bring me peace, harmoniously incorporating technology to help serve my nervous system and infuse my day with a forcefield of wellness. 


In the United States (YouGov, Dec 2025): 44% of Americans say they always or often use their phone to browse the internet/use apps within 10 minutes of waking.  Among adults under 30, that rises to a whopping 60% (always/often within 10 minutes).  


For most people using their phone this quickly upon waking, it’s to dive into their day fast. I have been guilty of this in the past as  well. Quickly jumping into checking text messages, going onto social media apps, taking in the news of the world and it was often without even thinking about it. This bombardment that occurs, can wreak havoc on our mornings. We energetically sip in stress, we etch into our mind the ills of the world, we may even feel defeated before our feet even touch the ground. This mistake is harming more than we can imagine. 


Before we have even energetically prepared ourselves for the day ahead we are letting in the world unfiltered. I don’t know anyone who would open their doors to people shouting on megaphones, or a bunch of coyotes with muddy paws and allow them to run through their homes, or welcome in an angry mob of torch bearing conspiracy theorists but we look through the window. We hold up the phone and scroll mindlessly, we take in this energy and it’s typically loud and shiny and curated to be addictive. So we stay watching, because your attention is valuable. Tech founders and CEO’s of these companies know this, many don’t use social or allow their kids on it because it’s just another way we lose moments of our life. We unknowingly trade our peace for their profit. 


There’s a different way.


I still use my phone early in the morning but not to connect with the world, but to turn inward. No social media, no messages, no scrolling or reading the news. Now I reach for my phone to start my morning routine, I call it the Sunrise Setup. It’s a time to energetically prepare for the day I use my Vive app which has morning meditations, breathwork exercises , and activations called boosts to wake peacefully and energized for what’s to come. 


When we peacefully prepare our day energetically for what’s to come we create an atmosphere around ourselves. This forcefield of love protects us from the challenges that will come. It’s like similar to the way the Earth’s atmosphere keeps space debris and meteors and astroids from harming as much as they would without this layer of protection. When we have surrounded ourselves with the grounded energy or presence and the power of love we react better and those who come around us throughout the day can feel it. They may not know what you did but they will feel that, “there’s just something about you”. It’s the light you let into your morning that is glittering in your eyes, the goodness within your words and actions and the forcefield of safety and serenity around you. 


If it’s morning where you are GOOD MORNING and if it’s any other time of the day I hope that tomorrow you will take a little time for yourself, to connect with your energy. To feel the beauty of the morning, to say thank you. To appreciate the people you will meet this day and the opportunities that lay ahead and send love to it all before you even arrive.
